Women in Logistics: Whitney Harrison

Whitney is our main point of contact at Knight Transportation and we are so glad to work with her! Right after introduction, she quickly learned REPOWR's platform and started listing trailers for Knight. Whitney helped Knight generate revenue and optimize REPOWR's network by listing trailers where our carriers needed them.

How did you get your start in equipment management?

I started at Knight as a Trailer Group Lead. After a few years, I was promoted to Regional Trailer Manager. We had equipment challenges on our brokerage side. We assisted by sourcing and tracking trailers for the Logistics team. Getting this right was key to help with growth and efficiency.

Can you tell us about Knight and your role there?

If you look around on your next road trip, you will see Knight drivers on the road with you. Knight is a part of North America’s largest trucking fleet. Knight alone has over 11,000 trailers, 4,000 trucks and 25 terminals.

Our goal at Knight is for each driver to have an available trailer as fast as possible. Part of my job consists of being able quickly to locate trailers and ensure they are available.

What do you see as the biggest challenge facing the logistics industry and Knight specifically?

The biggest industry challenge is the volatility of the freight market itself. For us, it’s getting trailers out of bad markets and back into the markets where we need them.

How has REPOWR helped you with those challenges?

We have been able to utilize REPOWR to move trailers into these markets mentioned above. Using REPOWR allows us to have trailers return where we need them and keep our drivers moving.

Can you share specific examples or outcomes?

At Knight, we use REPOWR for new bids with customers. We are able to supply more trailers to our customers to support more awarded shipments.

What are you most excited about for the logistics industry?

In the trucking industry, every day presents a new challenge and things always change. I am looking forward to being a part of providing new dynamics and implementations. We are creating efficiencies for the industry as a whole. We will bring the best service to drivers and customers.
