Women in Logistics: DeCarla Cothran

DeCarla is our go to point of contact for all things U.S. Xpress equipment. U.S. Xpress has headquarters in Chattanooga, TN a few miles from our office.

Since DeCarla started partnering with us, she is always willing to supply trailers. Whether we have a special request or a last minute need, she will bring an option to REPOWR almost every time.

We recently chatted with her about her career and thoughts on the transportation industry.

How did you get your start in the logistics industry?

I grew up around transportation. My mom worked in a brokerage, although I did not realize it would one day be my path. I joined U.S. Xpress almost eight years ago. I started as a scheduler and fell in love with the trucking industry and customer service.

Can you tell us about U.S. Xpress and your role there?

U.S. Xpress is a key player in the logistics industry. Our positive reputation is built by the people who work here. I am happy to be a part of the team as a Senior Trailer Manager. I help coordinate getting equipment to where our customers need it.

What do you see as the biggest challenge facing the logistics industry?

The freight market continues to be one of the largest issues across the industry. Everyone talks about low rates, but low volumes create planning challenges too.

How has REPOWR helped you with those challenges?

REPOWR has been instrumental in helping us relocate trailers to balance our network. We have moved a lot of units off of the West coast, out of the Northeast, and back into our primary network.

What are you most excited about for the future of the supply chain?

Transportation is an ever changing industry. I am excited to see how businesses thrive through new technology and innovation.
